Tour the pilot desalination plant - Second Wednesdays of the month 10 am and daily

See the desalination pilot plant in operation at Long Marine Lab/ the Seymour center. Join agency representatives who will lead tours of the pilot plant on the second Wednesdays of the month throughout the summer. These tours are free.

The Seymour Center runs daily tours of the pilot plant as well as a tour of the marine lab grounds. Every tour does not include the pilot plant. Call the Seymour Center for the tour times that include the pilot desalination plant (831) 459-3800.  Entry fee to the Seymour Center is required. Water-Smart Gardening at Santa Cruz County Fair Sept. 9-14

The Water Conservation Coalition of Santa Cruz County is hosting a water-smart gardening booth at the Santa Cruz County Fair with other environmental organizations on the greenway close to the main stage. Come to the booth to enter the water efficient prize give away and pick up some water-wise seed packets. Also look for water-smart gardens recognized in the section garden displays in the Floriculture building. 

Water Efficient Technology for Plumbers and Contractors - September 30

The first in a series of Green Plumbers certification classes will be held on September 30th from 9am-5pm at the City of Capitola Chambers Room. This class is FREE for plumbers and contractors and facility managers.

Topics covered in the Water Efficient Technology Class will be:

  • Recycled Water Systems

  • Rain Water Catchment

  • Gray water Systems

  • Septic Tanks/Wastewater Treatment Systems

  • Environmental/Public Health/Safety Regulations
